Last night we had dinner with friends at Oud Sluis (3 Michelin stars). Chef Sergio Herman is a real food artist, his food is extreme, refined, surprising (‘snow of oysters’) and so beautiful. And the wines…Eating here is one of those things you should do before you die!

Just for fun: real quick design for a cosmetics company at 99designs.com. $800 if they choose this one, not bad for just one hour of work.

loremo1

Two years ago I ordered the German Loremo (Low Resistance Mobile). It drives 50 kilometres on just one liter of petrol. The secret is its lightweight steel structure that ensures maximum protection, like Formula One cars. The seating arrangement and the (lack of) doors are a direct consequence of that. You need to crack eggs to make an omelette. With its lightweight engine it can speed up to 160 km/hr. Price € 15.000. To be expected in 2010.

One of the speakers I am looking forward to hear at the Design Indaba in Capetown is Dai Fujiwara, creative director at Issey Miyake. These futuristic outfits from 1998, called A-Poc, are made out of tubes, without sewing.

The Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef is a newly created position. The most important duty is to report back to Tourism Queensland (and the world). Click here if you like the idea of moving to Hamilton Island, Australia.

Haute couture designers do not seem to bother with the economic crises. For 2009 lots of exclusive fabrics, monumental high heels and wild big jewelry. Beautiful pirate by John Galliano and perfect bride by JP Gaultier.

A competitive idea: if you just want to spend between $100-600 on a new logo, look here. Because the process is from computer to computer, most logo’s are impersonal and often interchangeable. But hey…
