Two hundred countries will be taking part and over 70 million visitors are expected at the Shanghai 2010 Expo (May to October).  This UK Pavilion is built with long, radiating cilia that gently sway in response to the wind. The architects want to make you think about the integration of nature into cities. Architecture Heatherwick Studio

Artist Callum Morton from Melbourne gives buildings a completely new, banal function. He reacts to the fact that architecture and design descend globally into banal common properties, fully interchangeable. Art Grotto, Tilburg, The Netherlands. Via Dezeen

An invention I like to plug: this EcoWasBal saves 80% on washing powder, polluted water and waste (from the washing powder boxes). The recycled plastic ball is filled with ceramic parts that interact with water and soak off the dirt. Import (a designer I used to work with) Jaap Elzas from GreenHabits.

Cool watch brand Nixon goes for green with the RePly watch. It looks very Paul Smith with the colourful stripes made from recycled skateboard decks. Nixon did not announce its release yet.

This may be my next car: the LRX urban offroader by Land Rover, the smallest SUV so far, based on the engine of the Freelander, with a brilliant interior, a sort of überchic Hermès, designed by Gerry McGovern who says he also kept female drivers in mind. Hopefully owner Tata dares to maintain this design. The diesel-hybrid version will use an electronically driven rear axle, in combination with the engine-driven front wheels. It has a decent CO2 emission of  about 130 gr/km. Now just be patient for one more year…I forecast a big hit!

One and a half million oil barrels are needed to make just the water bottles for America. Bobble solves the problem intuitively: they love drinking out of a bottle, but filtered tap water is as tasty. These bottles are well-designed without any screaming labels. Buy them here. The world’s first serious Watchphone has been released by LG. The handmade watch has a full-colour screen, 2 GB of memory and an inbuilt James Bond camera. The waterproof touch screen makes it safe for swimming (and for some underwater photography). Just 150 watches are reserved for The Netherlands (€ 1,499).
