Beach finds – K10D 2018

My first jewellery exposition will be a prêt-à-porter-collection of beach finds. I’ll be one of the 291 exposing artists at 168 locations in my home town. The overall theme for everybody is ‘Enlightenment’ (‘Verlichting’). In this period (17th/18th century) the perspective of nature changed from dangerous into something you might enjoy. So for this collection I picked baby mussels and driftwood from our beach at Bergen aan Zee and added sea finds like pearls & precious coral. This bracelet is 18k gold with bright red coral; the lock can be stamped with your own text, like: ‘PRECIOUS’. Exposition Kunst10Daagse Date October 19-28, 2018 Location Pioen, Kleine Dorpsstraat 22, Bergen NH

Raindrops swallowed by oysters (pearls)

A friend asked me is I could make something from a precious coral string which she never wears. I think this broche will especially look good on black leather. Coral is known as the stone of peace & transformation. Pearls stand for purity & fertility + they represent the journey of the soul along the path to perfection. Materials 1st grade silver, pearls, coral

Easy on the eye… of Stewy

My apprenticeship with Philip Sajet at the Pyrenées was not about creating, it was about listening. Meanwhile he asked me to pick up the more repetitive jobs, like drawing wire from 10 grams of 18k gold and silver, and shape, click and solder eyelets for two necklaces, one with bright red cut glass pieces and one with river stones, roughly cut by the master. Sweet Stewy was overlooking the process. Nothing was polished. L: ‘Collier Rouge 10’, R: ‘Black or White, I don’t care’. Jewellery Philip Sajet + me Buy Galerie Biro

Bracer Bloem

This year I’ve made some jewelry for friends’ birthdays. A great way to practice.

First milestone of 2017

One thing leads to the other: I made this 18K present for my oldest friend. Since there were just 2 days left up to her B’day, I used all materials I could find in the studio. A colleague saw it and immediately ordered a pair for herself. A milestone: I’ve sold my first jewel! It took me another 2 days to make the second pair: melt the gold, pull round and square wire, bending tiny gold wheels, drill holes in the tiniest of pearls, the hardest part: solder silver to gold and polish it all. Still so much to learn. Brand Narcis & Goldmund Price € 195.00

Farewell for ever – Igor

Igor_themotor

For a couple of years I had lovely lobster parties with a small group of friends. One of them was a big, intelligent, funny, adorable guy, who I initially met via Facebook: Igor. Each meal he celebrated with at least two lobsters. Today we have to say farewell. For all members I’ve made one of these; Igor’s signature form the eyes. Farewell dinky boy!
