Plastic ocean – Thirza Schaap

|I love the debris at the shore and am still figuring out how to translate that into jewelry, like bunches of silver chains with pieces of seaweed made out of wood and tiny pearls…so this is pure inspiration. The engaged photographer lives in South Africa where 80% of the food comes from the ocean. She is spreading awareness of the plastics-in-ocean-problem, by showing posters of sea-worn trash in the buses over there. Photography Thirza Schaap
